CPD
Continuing professional development is defined by the RCVS as: "the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skills and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional and technical duties throughout the Member's working life."
Basically it is continued learning within the profession. As a locum it is vital to keep skills and knowledge up to date. Not only does it make work more enjoyable and fulfilling, it also makes you more employable.
What counts as CPD?
Broadly speaking, whatever activities you undertake in order to further your professional competence as part of a planned development programme can be counted towards your CPD. This may take the form of formal seminars and courses, informal learning groups, in-house training, or even keeping up with journals etc…
CPD requirements
